About Laughter Yoga

Laughter Yoga (also called Hasya Yoga) is a fun form of exercise that strengthens the immune system, unwinds the negative effects of stress, lowers blood pressure, improves mental alertness, enhances blood oxygen levels, boosts circulation (good cardio-vascular effects) and makes you feel good in the here and now by lifting your spirits.

You do not need to have any previous experience, equipment or a particular form of clothing to practice. There are no contortions or fancy movements. There is no joke-telling. You do not need to be happy or even have a sense of humor! Come join in on the fun.

"Laughter Yoga combines laughter with yogic breathing exercises. It is a perfect way to laugh and get exercise at the same time. It approaches laughter as a body exercise so it's easy to laugh even if you're depressed or in a bad mood. I've tried it, and it works." Oprah Winfrey.

Here is Dr. Kataria explaining Laughter Yoga.

The vision of the Laughter Yoga is to actually to achieve Health, Joy and World Peace through Laughter........and we just want to do our part!

Laughter Clubs

Laughter Clubs are based on the teachings of Dr. Madan Kataria, a physician from Mumbai, India who started the first laughter club in 1995. Then Sebastien Gendry brought the concept to the U.S. when he founded the American School of Laughter in 2004. There are now more than 10,000 laughter yoga clubs in over 110 countries.

Laughter Clubs are very informal and there is no obligation to attend every session. Typically during a session there is a series of laughter exercises and deep breathing followed by a laughter meditation. The sessions are never quite the same since there are thousands of laughter exercises and we can always invent more!

Laughter Clubs promote fun, laughter, peace and friendship in the community.
